Impeach and Remove Trump Over Illegal IRS Audit Ban

Start impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump. Acting AG Todd Blanche signed an addendum to a DOJ settlement that would "forever" ban the IRS from auditing Trump, his sons, and the Trump Organization. Federal law explicitly prohibits executive branch officials from interfering in IRS audits — directly or indirectly — and requires any officer who receives such a request to report it to the Treasury Inspector General. This isn't a gray area. Public Citizen called it a crossing "into illegality." CREW president Donald Sherman called Trump's underlying $10 billion lawsuit against his own IRS "a stunningly corrupt attempt for the president to take taxpayer money and put it in his pocket." This is a president who was already found guilty of criminal tax fraud through the Trump Organization, and who is now using the Justice Department to permanently shield himself from tax accountability. Even Senate Majority Leader Thune and Senators Collins, Murkowski, and Graham have raised objections. Former IRS chief John Koskinen said the audit ban is "unheard of" and raises the question of "what someone is worried about or trying to hide." If this doesn't meet the bar for high crimes and misdemeanors, nothing does. Do your job and begin impeachment now.
