Vote NO on Confirming Casey Means for Surgeon General

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

From: A verified voter in Columbus, OH

March 2

As a constituent and a voter, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the confirmation of Dr. Casey Means as Surgeon General of the United States. While I support the goal of addressing the nation's chronic disease crisis, I am deeply concerned that Dr. Means lacks the fundamental qualifications and professional transparency required for this critical office. My opposition is based on the following concerns: -- Corporate Conflicts of Interest: While the "Make America Healthy Again" movement rightly criticizes the political influence of the $1.8 trillion "Big Pharma," we must be even more vigilant regarding the $7.4 trillion "Big Wellness" industry. Dr. Means has earned significant revenue promoting unregulated supplements and "wellness" products. The American people deserve a Surgeon General whose primary allegiance is to peer-reviewed science, not a lifestyle brand or undisclosed corporate partnerships. -- Evasive Public Health Guidance: During her February 25th hearing, Dr. Means’ refusal to provide clear, definitive guidance on life-saving pediatric vaccines—at a time when measles outbreaks are rising—is disqualifying. A Surgeon General must be a source of clarity and stability, not a contributor to public confusion and "informed" skepticism of settled medical science. -- Accountability and Leadership: The role of Surgeon General requires extensive experience in scalable public health leadership. Dr. Means’ background as an influencer and entrepreneur does not equate to the administrative or clinical experience necessary to lead a federal agency during a national health emergency. -- Lack of Professional Credentials: The Surgeon General leads the 6,000 members of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Dr. Means did not complete her medical residency, is not board-certified, and maintains an inactive medical license. Confirming a nominee who cannot legally practice medicine to be the "Nation’s Top Doctor" sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the standards of the uniformed services. I urge you to prioritize the integrity of our medical institutions and vote NO on the confirmation of Casey Means. Our country needs a leader with a proven track record of clinical practice and a commitment to objective, evidence-based medicine.
