The U.S. leadership's treatment of President Zelensky during the Oval Office meeting was unacceptable and a disservice to American values and interests. President Trump's hostile behavior, admonishing Zelensky for not being "grateful enough," and his claims that Zelensky doesn't want peace are disconnected from reality. Ukraine has endured immense suffering defending itself against Russia's unprovoked invasion, and President Zelensky has repeatedly expressed his gratitude to the American people for their support. Forcing the Ukrainian delegation out of the White House was an unprecedented show of disrespect towards a democratic ally. President Trump's alignment with Russia's narrative undermines America's stance against authoritarian aggression. His priorities appear to be siding with Putin rather than upholding principles of democracy and sovereignty that the U.S. has historically championed. This administration's trajectory endangers American credibility on the global stage and emboldens adversaries like Russia. The American people largely stand with Ukraine in its struggle for freedom. I urge you to clearly repudiate the administration's hostile actions towards Ukraine and reinforce America's commitment to opposing unprovoked aggression and defending democratic partners. Ukraine's sacrifices in this war deserve respect, not insults from U.S. leaders.
