I am a constituent writing with serious concern about Donald Trump’s repeated public statements suggesting he could serve a third or even fourth term as president.
Had this been an isolated remark, it might be dismissed. It is not. Over time, these statements have been paired with comments questioning elections and expressing admiration for authoritarian leadership. This follows a familiar pattern: extreme ideas are introduced as jokes or hypotheticals to test whether constitutional limits will be defended or ignored.
Conservatives have long warned that republics fail when ambition is tolerated and clear lines are blurred. The presidency is not a personal entitlement, and the Constitution is not optional. The 22nd Amendment is explicit: no person may be elected president more than twice. Any attempt to evade or weaken that limit threatens the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power.
I am asking you to take two concrete steps:
1. Publicly state on the record that any attempt by any president—including Donald Trump—to serve more than two terms is unconstitutional and unacceptable.
2. Pledge to oppose and block any effort to undermine term limits, suspend elections, or concentrate executive power beyond constitutional bounds.
This is not about party. It is about whether the United States remains a constitutional republic governed by law rather than by ego. I expect my representative to defend the Constitution clearly and without hesitation.
