I strongly disagree with your decision to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America.” The Great Lakes are more than names on a map. They’re part of our history, regional identity, economy, and relationship with Canada. Lake Ontario has carried its name for centuries, and I don’t see what our country gains by changing it. I’m proud of our country, but patriotism doesn’t require putting “America” on something to make it more American. Changing a centuries-old name also strikes me as an unnecessary use of government time and resources when there are far more important issues demanding attention. Respecting our history and our relationship with one of our closest neighbors doesn’t diminish America. I believe it reflects well on us. Please reconsider and reverse this decision.
