Vote against any gas tax rollback and use your authority to halt unauthorized military action against Iran. These two issues are connected by the same reckless logic: short-term political theater that creates long-term damage for ordinary Americans.
Rolling back the gas tax is fiscal nonsense. The savings at the pump are negligible — a few cents per gallon — while the revenue loss guts highway maintenance and infrastructure funding that communities depend on. It's a giveaway that sounds good in a press release and accomplishes nothing in the real world.
On Iran, there is no congressional authorization for offensive military operations. Any sustained military campaign conducted without a proper Authorization for Use of Military Force is illegal, and Congress has both the power and the obligation to stop it. I expect you to use that power — block funding, demand a vote, do whatever it takes. Silence is complicity.
