Reject the Gas Tax Rollback and Demand an End to Unauthorized Military Action Against Iran

To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick, Rep. Houlahan

From: A verified voter in West Chester, PA

May 11

Vote against any gas tax rollback and use your authority to halt unauthorized military action against Iran. These two issues are connected by the same reckless logic: short-term political theater that creates long-term damage for ordinary Americans. Rolling back the gas tax is fiscal nonsense. The savings at the pump are negligible — a few cents per gallon — while the revenue loss guts highway maintenance and infrastructure funding that communities depend on. It's a giveaway that sounds good in a press release and accomplishes nothing in the real world. On Iran, there is no congressional authorization for offensive military operations. Any sustained military campaign conducted without a proper Authorization for Use of Military Force is illegal, and Congress has both the power and the obligation to stop it. I expect you to use that power — block funding, demand a vote, do whatever it takes. Silence is complicity.
