Protect Medicaid and SNAP in Budget Reconciliation – Support H.R. 2753

To: Sen. Graham, Rep. Norman, Sen. Scott

April 25

I am writing as your constituent to express my concern about the future of essential safety net programs like Medicaid and SNAP as Congress debates the upcoming budget reconciliation. While I understand the importance of passing a balanced budget, I am deeply troubled by any efforts that would slash funding for programs that millions of Americans—including many in our own community—rely on for health care and food security. These programs are not luxuries; they are lifelines. That’s why I strongly urge you to support H.R. 2753, a bill that would prohibit any cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other critical safety net programs during the reconciliation process. Passing this legislation is a vital step toward ensuring that budget decisions do not come at the expense of our most vulnerable neighbors. Please clarify how you plan to support the budget reconciliation while still preserving the essential benefits that keep families healthy, fed, and stable. I hope you will stand with your constituents in protecting these programs and preventing austerity from falling on those who can least afford it. Thank you for your service and for considering my views.
