Federal Funding Freeze: A Threat to Rent, Jobs, Healthcare, and Retirement

To: Rep. Johnson, Sen. Rounds, Sen. Thune

From: A constituent in Sioux Falls, SD

January 28

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to fight the Federal Funding Freeze and ensure that vital programs and services continue to receive the necessary funding. As a concerned citizen, I am deeply worried about the impact this freeze could have on essential aspects of daily life, including rent, jobs, healthcare, and retirement. If this freeze continues, countless individuals and families may face severe financial hardships. For many of us, federal funding supports critical services such as housing assistance, healthcare access, and retirement savings programs. Freezing these funds jeopardizes the well-being of individuals who rely on these programs, exacerbating the challenges they already face in today's economy. The freeze could also cause an unnecessary strain on state and local governments, which will need to find ways to fill these gaps, potentially resulting in higher costs for taxpayers and reduced quality of services. Furthermore, the consequences of reduced funding could disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, including those who are already struggling to make ends meet. I urge you to stand up for the people you represent and work toward a solution that prevents further disruption and hardship. We need a commitment to adequately fund these programs to ensure that our communities continue to thrive, and that no one is left behind. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. I look forward to hearing about your efforts to protect federal funding and support our communities.
