Vote against any constitutional amendment to lock in the current Supreme Court size, and push immediately for enforceable ethics rules that remove justices who take bribes or rule to enrich themselves. The Republican effort to cement this court into the Constitution is a naked power grab — designed to protect a majority built through McConnell's obstruction and Trump's appointments, not through any democratic mandate.
This court has already handed Trump a presidential immunity ruling that shielded him from accountability. Now House Republicans want to strip Congress of a power it has exercised seven times since the founding — the power to set the number of justices. We've had as few as six and as many as ten. There is nothing sacred about nine. What is sacred is that Congress, not a political faction, controls that number.
The justices taking gifts and ruling in ways that benefit their donors are a corruption scandal, full stop. Support legislation that expands the court, establishes term limits, and creates a binding ethics code with real enforcement. This court has done enough damage. It's time to fight back with every tool Congress actually has.
