I am writing with urgency and outrage over the growing pattern of violence tied to Immigration and Customs Enforcement across the country. Reports of ICE agents killing people, including U.S. citizens, during enforcement actions are horrifying and unacceptable in a nation that claims to value human rights and the rule of law.
No agency should have the power to execute people in the streets under the banner of immigration enforcement. This is not public safety. It is state violence, and it is tearing communities apart while spreading fear among families who are simply trying to live their lives.
Congress has the authority and responsibility to act. You must immediately rein in ICE’s unchecked use of force, mandate independent investigations into every death caused by federal agents, and put real limits on militarized enforcement tactics. Accountability is not optional when lives are being taken.
We stand in solidarity with communities across the country who are demanding justice, transparency, and humane policies. The American people deserve safety without terror, and enforcement without bloodshed.
Inaction is complicity. It is time to act.
