I am writing to you as a deeply concerned citizen regarding the continued influence and conduct of former President Donald J. Trump. As someone who believes in the Constitution, the rule of law, and the ethical standards that should govern our public officials—past and present—I find it alarming that Mr. Trump continues to disregard democratic norms, evade accountability, and seemingly operate outside the bounds of constitutional and legal expectations. The number of credible accusations and indictments involving Mr. Trump—from obstruction of justice to alleged violations of the Espionage Act, conspiracy to overturn an election, and financial fraud—should be of grave concern to every member of Congress, regardless of political affiliation. Many of these actions not only challenge the integrity of our institutions but also raise serious questions about equal justice under the law. Moreover, Mr. Trump has repeatedly undermined constitutional principles such as the peaceful transfer of power, the separation of powers, and the First and Fourteenth Amendments. His public statements continue to erode trust in our electoral system, our judiciary, and the media—pillars of a free and functioning democracy. It is frankly an embarrassment to the office he once held, and to our nation as a whole, that he remains a central figure in American politics despite this troubling record. Worse, it sends a dangerous message to future leaders that they too may act with impunity. I urge you and your colleagues to take a firm stand in defense of the Constitution and the rule of law. Whether through legislative measures, public oversight, or vocal opposition, Congress must not remain silent or complicit in the face of this behavior. The country deserves leaders who value truth, accountability, and ethical leadership. History will remember who stood up in this moment—and who chose to stay silent.
