The standard for basic professionalism in a congressional hearing shouldn’t be this hard to meet. Watching the Republican performance during Jack Smith’s testimony was nothing short of embarrassing. Instead of engaging with facts, evidence, or substantive legal questions, the focus was entirely on grandstanding, talking over the witness, and chasing viral soundbites for social media. American taxpayers deserve serious oversight from their elected officials, not aggressive political theater. The refusal to address the actual merits of the investigation only made it look like there was no real defense to offer. It was a clear demonstration of putting partisan performance over basic public service.
