As a gun owner, raised in a gun-owning household, I am writing to express my shock and outrage at multiple videos of ICE ‘officers’ pointing loaded pistols, fingers on the triggers, at unarmed observers while maneuvering across icy ground.
That is a recipe for unnecessary, preventable deaths. It is only a matter of time before this lawless paramilitary organization shoots more peaceful Americans.
Three major rules in firearm training are:
1. Always point your firearm in a safe direction.
2. Never point your firearm at anything you don’t intend to shoot.
3. Never put your finger on the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.
I knew this at 10 years old. With a BB gun. Those are the first rules taught in any firearm safety course. How do ICE ‘officers’ not know this?
Whatever training they received, if any, was completely devoid of basic firearm safety. They are not federal agents. They may be contracted by ICE, but they are not trained federal agents. They are deadly accidents waiting to happen.
If DHS won’t rein in ICE, Congress must. You must. My wife and I implore you to demand these untrained paramilitaries be removed from American cities before more Americans are killed needlessly.
