Oppose Unfair Tax Measures, Support Balanced Revenue Approach

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Bell

June 13

The latest analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office concludes that the Trump tax law will deliver a huge windfall to the highest-income Americans while providing relatively modest benefits for low- and middle-income people. As the gap between the rich and poor widens, it is imperative we promote tax policies that create a more equitable society. We must oppose measures like HR1 that further exacerbate wealth inequality. Instead, we should pursue a balanced approach that raises revenue from those who can afford it most, allowing us to adequately fund vital programs and services while restoring fiscal responsibility. The wealthy and corporations must pay their fair share to build an economy that works for all Americans.
