Protect and preserve Arizonans’ mail in vote

To: Sen. Carroll, Gov. Hobbs, Rep. Pingerelli, Rep. Livingston

From: A verified voter in Phoenix, AZ

August 27, 2025

The president has long argued that mail in voting is bad, and now has called for states to end its practice. I am writing as an independent voter to urge our state to continue to our history of using our secure and well-verified mail in voting systems. More than 75% of Arizonans use this method of casting our ballots; it benefits rural voters, voters with disabilities, elderly voters, busy working voters and voters with busy family lives. There are no segments of our population who do not benefit from mail in voting, and democracy benefits when we can all participate. Moreover, the manner and method of voting is left to the control of the states in our union. It is imperative that states’ rights to produce improvements and efficiencies in the voting process are protected—-without these protections, we could be an entire country still hand (mis)counting votes, as our Founders once did with a population a tiny fraction of ours today or all peering at hanging chads, as our unfortunate friends in Florida once did decades ago. Protect and preserve Arizonans’ mail in vote.
