President Trump's actions to defy federal laws and expand executive power beyond constitutional limits are extremely concerning. He has effectively nullified laws by ordering agencies not to enforce them and blocking migrants from requesting asylum as legally permitted. Furthermore, he has defied legal rules by summarily firing prosecutors, inspectors general, and board members of independent agencies without proper cause. These repeated violations of the rule of law represent a dangerous escalation that undermines our democratic system of checks and balances. Congress must act urgently to reinforce its role as a co-equal branch of government and rein in this rampant lawlessness before further damage is done to our nation's legal foundations. Decisive action is needed to restore the separation of powers and prevent further consolidation of authority in the executive branch at the expense of our laws and democratic norms.
