Censure Representative Mace's anti-transgender hate speech

To: Rep. Pingree

From: A constituent in Damariscotta, ME

April 15

Representative Mace's repeated and intentional use of an anti-transgender slur is unacceptable hate speech that has no place in civil discourse. By invoking this derogatory term four times during an event hosted by the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition, she actively promoted discrimination and hostility toward the transgender community. Such language dehumanizes and endangers an already vulnerable population facing disproportionate levels of violence and marginalization. Mace's actions are particularly egregious given her position as a federal legislator sworn to uphold the rights and dignity of all Americans. Her flippant remarks exploit a hateful slur to score political points, spreading prejudice under the guise of promoting so-called "traditional values." This deeply offensive behavior sets a dangerous precedent that tacitly condones anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and undermines efforts toward greater societal inclusion. I urge you to censure Representative Mace and make clear that such blatant hate speech will not be tolerated from our nation's elected leaders. Her conduct warrants formal reprimand. Mace must be held accountable for fanning the flames of transphobia and fomenting an environment of intolerance antithetical to American ideals of equality. Forceful disciplinary action is required to reinforce that promoting bigotry violates the standards of congressional decorum and public service.
