An Open Letter

To: Sen. Moody, Rep. Cammack, Sen. Scott

From: A constituent in Ocala, FL

November 28

As a constituent, I am deeply concerned about the recent increase in misogynistic behavior by President Trump, including his public outbursts and derogatory remarks directed at female journalists. These incidents are not isolated; they reflect a broader pattern of hostility toward women that undermines our democracy and threatens the safety and dignity of women in public life. Such rhetoric normalizes violence and discrimination, and it is essential that our elected leaders take a strong stand against it. Just last week Trump yelled “Quiet Piggy” at a female journalist, today this happened: Female Journalist : “your DOJ Inspector General just reported this year that there was thorough vetting by DHS, and by the FBI, of these Afghans that were brought into the US, so why do you blame the Biden administration.” Trump: “because they let them in. are you stupid? are you a stupid person? because they came in on a plane along with thousands of other people who shouldn’t be here, and you’re just asking questions because you’re a stupid person.” Hostile sexism is not just a personal issue—it is a threat to our democratic institutions and the rights of all Americans. When women are disempowered, our democracy suffers. The normalization of these attacks sets a dangerous precedent and emboldens further discrimination and violence. I urge you to use your position to condemn these actions and to support any legislative efforts that protect the rights and safety of women and journalists. It is critical that Congress sends a clear message that misogyny and gender-based attacks have no place in our public discourse or our government.
