Pass the ERA to protect ALL AMERICANS

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Carter

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

August 31, 2025

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to pass the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Bring it to the floor for a vote. For far too long, equality between men and women has been treated as a promise rather than a guarantee. It is past time that this promise is written clearly into the Constitution. The ERA is simple: equality under the law shall not be denied or abridged on the basis of sex. Nothing more, nothing less. This amendment would affirm what most Americans already believe to be true—that men and women are equally valuable to our society, and that equality should not depend on gender. Passing the ERA would not only secure protections for women, but for all American citizens. It would strengthen the foundation of fairness, justice, and equal opportunity. It would make clear that discrimination has no place in our laws, our workplaces, or our institutions. Generations of Americans have fought for this amendment. The work, the struggle, and the demand for equality have endured for nearly a century. Congress now has the power—and the responsibility—to finish what was started and make equality a permanent, undeniable reality in this country. I urge you to act decisively. Pass the Equal Rights Amendment and affirm, once and for all, that equality under the law is the right of every American.
