The president of El Salvador said he would be willing to take American citizens in his federal prison population. President Trump said, “I love that.” It doesn’t take a scholar to remember these words from the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Perhaps the constitution is complicated for you. The 4th amendment is a protection against unlawful arrest. Section 1 guarantees habeas corpus. You swore to uphold the constitution. You grew up knowing what it means to be a free American. Stop the dismantling of our freedoms and institutions!
