Please Vote NO on H. Con. Res. 14 – Medicaid & SNAP Are on the Li
To: Rep. Malliotakis
From: A constituent in Staten Island, NY
July 3, 2025
I’m urging you to vote NO on the reconciliation bill under Title II of H. Con. Res. 14. As your constituent, I’m deeply concerned about the devastating impact this bill would have on Staten Island and Brooklyn—particularly its deep cuts to Medicaid and SNAP.
You’ve long presented yourself as a fiscal conservative who values transparency and stands with working-class families. But this bill contradicts those values. It would add $3.3 trillion to the deficit, hand out tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy, and slash essential programs that thousands in our district depend on—especially veterans, seniors, and families navigating NYC’s high cost of living.
You previously supported bipartisan efforts to protect Medicaid in New York. This bill does the opposite. It risks closing community clinics, laying off frontline health workers, and putting more pressure on emergency rooms and food pantries like City Harvest. For many, SNAP and Medicaid aren’t optional—they’re survival.
Equally troubling is how this legislation was rushed through the Senate—nearly 900 pages with barely any time for review or debate. That’s not how responsible governance works, and it directly undermines the transparency and accountability you've called for in the past.
This isn’t about party politics. It’s about doing what’s right for NY-11. Voting NO would demonstrate principled leadership—putting your community first and refusing to rubber-stamp a bill that hurts the very people you were elected to serve.
I respectfully urge you to:
Vote NO on any procedural rule that moves this bill forward
Vote NO on final passage of the reconciliation package
Thank you for your service and for standing up when it matters most.
