I am writing to you today as a Dayton constituent to demand the immediate passage of Senate Bill 56.
It has been over a year since Ohio voters decisively passed Issue 2. While the collection of tax revenue has proceeded, the distribution of those funds to host communities like Dayton has been stalled by a bureaucratic failure to pass the necessary appropriation language.
As of October, nearly $30 million is sitting in the Host Community Cannabis Fund. This is money that the voters explicitly mandated should go to local governments. Hiding behind the lack of an appropriation clause is unacceptable. The will of the voters was clear: legalize, tax, and distribute the revenue to the communities bearing the responsibility of hosting these dispensaries.
Please ensure SB 56 is passed immediately so Dayton receives the funds it was promised.
