An Open Letter
To: Gov. Hochul
From: A constituent in Brooklyn, NY
June 5
Me and my community are incredibly disappointed at your last-minute decision to halt the congestion relief toll for NYC. The MINORITY of NYers own a car, and this toll would help the already cash-strapped MTA.
NYC governors have a long track record of shooting NYC transit in the kneecaps with their last-minute decisions, like using MTA funds to bail out skiing resorts, cancelling projects to boast their image (the L shutdown debacle), etc. It is ridiculous that the governor of all people has control over our city’s transit. No other system functions this way.
Again, I am incredibly disappointed at the halting of the congestion toll halting.
