The Department of Education plays a crucial role in ensuring equal access to quality education for all students. Eliminating it would have devastating consequences for public schools, students with disabilities, and civil rights protections for millions. Education is a fundamental right, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy few. We cannot allow H.R. 899 or any similar efforts to dismantle this essential agency that upholds the promise of opportunity through learning. Public education empowers individuals and strengthens communities – it must be vigorously defended and bolstered, not undermined or abolished. I urge you to reject any legislative attempts to terminate the Department of Education.
