I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent reports that Triple Canopy, a private paramilitary contractor employed by the U.S. government, has been involved in blocking members of Congress from accessing government buildings. This alarming behavior undermines the principles of transparency, accountability, and democratic governance that are foundational to our nation.
As your constituent, I urge you to take immediate action to cancel the U.S. government’s contract with Triple Canopy. Allowing a private paramilitary organization to interfere with the duties of elected officials sets a dangerous precedent and raises serious questions about the role of such entities in our democracy. Members of Congress must have unimpeded access to government facilities to carry out their constitutional responsibilities on behalf of the American people.
Furthermore, the use of private military contractors in domestic settings poses significant risks to public trust and safety. These organizations are not subject to the same level of oversight and accountability as government agencies, and their actions can easily escalate tensions or violate the rights of citizens and elected officials alike.
I respectfully request that you:
1 Investigate the actions of Triple Canopy in this matter and hold them accountable for any misconduct.
2 Advocate for the immediate termination of the U.S. government’s contract with Triple Canopy.
3 Support legislation that limits or prohibits the use of private paramilitary contractors in domestic settings, ensuring that government functions remain under the control of accountable, publicly responsible entities.
Our democracy depends on the ability of elected officials to perform their duties without interference, and the use of private military contractors to obstruct Congress is unacceptable. I trust that you will take this matter seriously and act swiftly to address this concerning issue.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your response and hope to see your leadership in ensuring that our government remains transparent, accountable, and free from undue influence by private entities.
