Congress must act to stop escalation of war with Iran.

To: Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Wagner, Sen. Hawley

From: A constituent in High Ridge, MO

July 9

As the administration breaks its proposed peace initiative with Iran I am worried about the consequences. This is when you stand up and enforce the war powers act. Sorry Mr. President we will not fund those war. Bombing is not an option. You must use the State Department to negotiate peace with Iran. Not his flunky business friends who don’t speak the language know the customs or have the capacity to bring an international community together to get us back to normal. The Administration is incompetent. Congress has to step into the void. If you don’t I fear there will be retaliation by Iran on its neighbors and international shipping. Just as a reminder think of the damage to Kuwait’s oil fields when Iraq left them. The damage they did required a decade to fix. It was an environmental disaster. I fear Iran could do worse. So what can you do? I do not know but will humbly suggest: Threaten the President with impeachment unless he pulls his cronies and uses the state department negotiators. Express that you want the State department to works multilaterally to bring this mistake this “war of choice” to a close. Enforce the war powers act. Cut off his funding. Pass a resolution that any escalation of the war is an act of continued war. Negotiate a super majority for the actions you decide on. Congress is the most powerful branch of our government. Use your power to avoid further economic and enviromental disaster. It will only take a few members of the GOP to rebalance the nation. Bring this rouge administration to it senses. I want to count you among them.
