Protect intersex, nonbinary, queer, and transgender identities
To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz
From: A constituent in Amarillo, TX
November 22
The proposed legislation to legally define "male" and "female" based solely on biological sex at birth is deeply concerning. This narrow definition fails to recognize the diversity of human experience and identities that exist beyond the male-female binary. By codifying such a restrictive interpretation into law, we risk discriminating against and erasing the realities of intersex, nonbinary, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals. Rather than promoting inclusion and protecting vulnerable groups, this bill would further marginalize those who do not fit neatly into traditional gender norms. I urge you to reconsider this harmful legislation and instead work towards policies that affirm and safeguard the rights of all people, regardless of gender identity or expression. True equality cannot be achieved by dismissing the lived experiences of our fellow citizens.
