Vote NO on H.R. 9495

To: Sen. Murray, Rep. Kilmer, Sen. Cantwell

From: A constituent in Shelton, WA

November 23

I am writing to you to urge you to vote no on H.R. 9495. The bill would grant the Treasury Secretary the authority to accuse any nonprofit of supporting terrorism and repeal their tax-exempt status without due process. I believe that this bill is a threat to civil rights groups, charities and schools. It undermines our rights to free expression and our right to due process when faced with legal challenges. It is already illegal to materially support terrorism, therefore the bill is not necessary. The bill is driven by a motivation to empower the Trump administration to silence its critics in unconstitutional ways. Please vote NO on H.R. 9495 to protect the freedoms of all Americans.
