The Trump administration's decision to remove the ban on "segregated facilities" in federal contracts is a deeply troubling step backwards. This policy change sends the wrong message and could enable discrimination against marginalized groups. While segregation remains illegal under existing laws, any measures that seem to condone or normalize such abhorrent practices must be vehemently opposed. We cannot allow the clock to be turned back on the hard-won progress towards equality and civil rights. Segregation has no place in a just society. This policy reversal appears to prioritize an exclusionary agenda over fundamental human rights and American ideals of liberty and justice for all. It undermines decades of work to root out systemic racism and create more equitable, inclusive communities. I urge you to take immediate action to reinstate the ban on segregated facilities for federal contractors. We must reject policies that enable discrimination and division. Our nation's strength lies in its diversity - measures that seek to marginalize or segregate people based on race, ethnicity or other attributes are antithetical to American values and have devastating human consequences. Please stand firmly against this misguided policy change and recommit to advancing racial equity and equal protection under the law.
