I am writing to urge you to take immediate action against the Trump administration's dangerous expansion of military interventions in the Western Hemisphere. Following the military operation in Venezuela to capture former president Maduro, the administration has escalated threats against multiple sovereign nations under what they call a 'Donroe Doctrine' expansionist foreign policy agenda.
The administration's continued efforts to acquire Greenland, despite repeated objections from Denmark and European allies, now include consideration of using U.S. military forces to seize the territory. This would fundamentally damage the NATO alliance and our relationships with key democratic partners. The administration has also threatened military action in Mexico, Cuba, and Colombia, with Secretary of State Rubio leading intervention efforts in Cuba.
These actions bypass Congress's constitutional authority over war declarations and federal funding. This pattern of unilateral military action damages U.S. credibility worldwide and puts American interests at risk. Congress must serve as a check on executive overreach.
I ask you to publicly oppose the Trump administration's calls to take over Greenland. This imperialistic agenda threatens our alliances and violates international norms that have maintained stability for decades.
I urge you to support a War Powers Resolution blocking any military intervention without congressional approval. The Constitution grants Congress alone the power to declare war, and this authority must be defended.
I request that you support a provision in the Fiscal Year 2026 Defense Appropriations bill that blocks funding for military interventions not approved by Congress. Controlling appropriations is Congress's most powerful tool to prevent unauthorized military action.
Finally, I ask you to support articles of impeachment and move to convict Trump for his repeated defiance of the law. This pattern of constitutional violations demands accountability.
Our nation's security depends on respecting constitutional limits and maintaining international partnerships, not pursuing territorial expansion through military force.
