Strip Section 224 from the 2027 NDAA
To: Rep. Stanton
From: A constituent in Mesa, AZ
May 31
Strip Section 224 from the 2027 NDAA. This provision would fuse the U.S. and Israeli defense sectors at a level deeper than any NATO alliance — covering AI, autonomous weapons, quantum computing, and data fusion that could give the Israeli military direct access to U.S. military data. That is not an aid relationship. That is a merger.
The Quincy Institute's Steven Simon has warned that moving from an annual aid vote to embedded defense acquisition machinery strips away the political and diplomatic oversight Congress is supposed to exercise. Once co-production facilities are scattered across American states, the lobby writes itself. Only 16% of Americans support unconditional weapons supply to Israel, and 38% want to stop supplying weapons altogether. Congress is not reflecting the public — it is running from it. Vote to remove Section 224 from the NDAA.
