I am writing to express my outrage over President Trump's recent posting of AI-generated images depicting the Obamas as apes during Black History Month. This act represents a deeply racist attack that crosses fundamental lines of decency and respect, and it demands immediate congressional action. These images invoke one of the most vicious and dehumanizing racist tropes in American history. The comparison of Black people to primates has been used for centuries to justify slavery, segregation, and violence. That a sitting president would deploy this imagery during a month dedicated to honoring Black Americans' contributions demonstrates a level of contempt that cannot be tolerated without consequence. Under any previous administration, such overtly racist conduct would have triggered immediate calls for removal from office. The fact that President Trump currently holds the presidency makes this even more urgent. When the person occupying our nation's highest office engages in racist attacks without consequence, it signals to the country that such conduct is acceptable and emboldens others to follow suit. This erodes the standards we must maintain for those entrusted with representing all Americans. I urge you to take immediate action to hold President Trump accountable. This should include publicly condemning these images, supporting a formal congressional resolution of censure, exploring all available mechanisms for accountability including impeachment proceedings, and backing legislation that addresses the spread of racist AI-generated content. Your constituents deserve to know that their representative will stand against racism regardless of who perpetrates it. The timing during Black History Month makes this particularly egregious. Rather than honoring the legacy of Black Americans who built this nation, we are witnessing racist attacks from our current president. This moment requires moral clarity and swift action from Congress. I ask that you take a public stand against this conduct immediately and work toward ensuring such behavior carries real consequences.
