I write as your constituent to urge you to demand the immediate, unconditional release of Palestinian political prisoners, who have been abducted, caged, and tortured by the Israeli apartheid state in violation of their rights and due process.
The U.S.—as Israel’s largest military backer—has unique leverage to demand accountability and protect human rights. I call on you to:
1. Demand the immediate release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, pediatrician and director of Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital. Israel has imprisoned Dr. Abu Safiya without charge since the Israeli military invaded his hospital on December 27, 2024. Human rights organizations report that Dr. Abu Safiya has endured torture, medical neglect, and incommunicado detention.
2. Demand the immediate release of Marwan Barghouti, the popular Palestinian political leader. Israel has unjustly imprisoned Barghouti for more than 20 years under severe torture, assault, and starvation conditions. International observers found his trial violated basic legal standards.
3. Demand the immediate release of all Palestinian children and all Palestinian prisoners held in “administrative detention” without charge or trial.
4. Cut off the endless supply of U.S. weapons and military funding to Israel, as required by U.S. and international law. Support the Block the Bombs Act H.R. 3565 in the House and the introduction of companion legislation in the Senate.
Failure to act makes the United States complicit in enabling Israel’s mass imprisonment, arbitrary detention, torture, and other human rights violations. I urge you to stand for justice and accountability.
