I’m writing to urge you to stand up and oppose the uptick in detentions in the State of Massachusetts. LUCE’s average call volumes are up by 100-200 / week. We need to stand up and protect our friends and neighbors from the injustice of family separation, shoddy due process and illegal tactics. If we don’t stand up now, we may not have the opportunity to do it later. Due process is a constitutional right for all of us. If not upheld, none of us are safe. Federal agents detained 370 immigrants from Massachusetts in March, hailing it as a crackdown on criminals. But: more than half of the detainees didn't have a criminal records. Thank you for doing everything in your power to stop ICE’s unlawful trampling of our state’s rights.
