I urge you to reject HB 3187. I have learned it will effectively bring DART to a grinding halt. This would have an impact on the environment, on the job market, on local economy and on riders, many of whom are low-income and/or disabled and would lose access to transportation. There are better ways to save money. When a ship is taking on water, the crew grabs bail buckets first. They patch the siding as best they can. And some cargo goes overboard, but cargo this valuable shouldn't go unless the ship is about to capsize. Please push for the Texas House to take right action on this issue and go back to the drawing board. Please push for the Texas House to make budget cuts that are more responsible and ethical. So often, policy changes are made that impact vulnerable, marginalized people, and speaking as a queer, multiply disabled woman of indigenous heritage, it's beginning to feel like that's by design. Prove me wrong. Prove to me that the Texas House is by and for all people.
