An Open Letter

To: Pres. Biden

From: A verified voter in Vancouver, WA

August 27

Time is of the essence; our humanity and moral compass are at a critical juncture where silence seems synomous to endorsement of pain and injustice. I implore you to consider the graphic realities of the crisis escalating between Israel and Palestine, an atrocity partly fueled by the vast financial support the U.S. provides to Israel. The funding and arms that continue to flow from us are not just enabling this conflict, but are inextricably complicit in the human rights violations currently being inflicted upon innocent Palestinian civilians. I write this letter, not merely as a plea for change, but as an outcry, echoing the silent screams of mothers clutching lifeless children; of sons bearing the weight of fathers lost to detonations meant for warriors, not civilians. These scars etched into the face of humanity are deeply distressing and undeniably heartbreaking. The financial aid we're providing Israel plays an integral part in the continuation of this horrifying dance of devastation. American money becomes a bullet, a shell, or a bomb; changed from a symbol of prosperity into an instrument of destruction. These actions against Palestine civilians need to end. We have to reshape this narrative of violence into one of peace by standing on the right side of history. The decisive moment is now, a ceasefire must be enacted, and we must immediately halt our cash flow towards Israel, not to work against them, but to effectively advocate for the fair treatment of Palestinians. This is less about pointing fingers, but more about standing up against what is so plainly a crime against humanity. For the sake of morality, humanity, and world peace, it is time to redefine our role in this conflict.
