I am writing as a deeply concerned citizen regarding the shocking delay in FEMA search and rescue efforts during the devastating Texas floods over the Fourth of July weekend — an inaction when nearly 100 individuals, including dozens of children died. Equally disturbing are the credible reports of ICE agents engaging in masked detainments of immigrants — individuals with no criminal records. Also, it is concerning that while serving as Governor of South Dakota, it is being reported that Secretary Noem secretly received an $80,000 payment from a dark money nonprofit group and failed to disclose it on her federal financial disclosure forms after becoming Secretary of Homeland Security. These actions represent not only gross negligence but possible violations of civil rights and humanitarian obligations. I urge you to launch a full investigation into this matter and, if substantiated, begin proceedings for removal or impeachment of those responsible. Our democracy demands accountability. The victims and their families deserve justice.
