I am writing as a constituent deeply concerned about the lack of transparency surrounding recent ICE operations in Minnesota. At a moment when federal agents are conducting aggressive enforcement actions in our communities, the public has been given no clear accounting of who has been detained, why they were taken into custody, or what charges or allegations—if any—justify their continued detention. This level of secrecy is unacceptable in a constitutional democracy. When federal agents operate in our neighborhoods, enter homes, and remove individuals from their families, the public has a right to know the basic facts. Without transparency, there is no way for Minnesotans to assess whether these actions are lawful, proportionate, or consistent with due‑process protections. I am asking you to take immediate action to require ICE and the Department of Homeland Security to disclose: - The names or identifying case numbers of individuals currently detained in Minnesota or else where - The specific charges, allegations, or administrative grounds for each detention = Whether any of the individuals taken into custody have criminal convictions, pending charges, or no criminal history at all - The locations where detainees are being held and whether they have access to legal counsel These are not extraordinary requests. They are the minimum level of transparency the public should expect when federal agencies exercise the power to detain. I urge you to use your oversight authority—through public statements, committee inquiries, and direct demands to DHS—to ensure that Minnesotans receive a full accounting of ICE’s actions. Silence or delay only deepens public distrust and leaves our communities in the dark. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I expect your office to pursue answers swiftly and publicly.
