Your 11 Feb 2025 Federal Layoffs & Foreign Policy Actions Threaten Democracy

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding several recent actions you have taken that pose serious threats to our democracy, global stability, and the well-being of the American people. These decisions undermine the values and security of our nation and risk long-term harm.
1. Federal Workforce Reductions
Your executive order mandating large-scale layoffs within the federal government, in collaboration with adviser Elon Musk, threatens essential services that millions of Americans rely on. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) lacks transparency in implementing these cuts, raising concerns over political favoritism and ethical implications. While cutting jobs may seem fiscally responsible, history has shown that mass layoffs create inefficiencies, increase outsourcing costs, and disrupt the economy. If the goal is truly to reduce waste, targeted reforms would be far more effective than sweeping job eliminations.
2. Reckless Foreign Policy and Iran Threats
Your recent statements threatening military action against Iran, including the possibility of bombing the country, have drawn international condemnation. Iran has alerted the United Nations Security Council, citing these remarks as reckless and a violation of international law. Such rhetoric only escalates tensions, endangers American lives, and risks dragging the U.S. into another costly and unnecessary conflict. Strong leadership requires diplomacy, not inflammatory threats.
3. Undermining Ukraine’s Sovereignty
Your recent comment that “Ukraine may be Russian some day” is deeply troubling. This statement contradicts the United States’ longstanding support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence. It emboldens Russian aggression and weakens America’s global leadership in defending democracy. The U.S. must stand firmly with Ukraine, not signal indifference to authoritarian expansion.
Each of these actions reflects a dangerous pattern of instability and disregard for democratic principles. As President, you have a duty to protect American workers, maintain responsible foreign policy, and uphold our commitments to allies. I urge you to reconsider these harmful decisions and prioritize the long-term stability and security of our nation.
I look forward to seeing actions that reflect the true interests of the American people and the values of our democracy.
