We hold these truths to be obvious: everyone is created equal and has been given certain unchangeable rights by their Creator. These include the right to life, the freedom to pursue happiness, and the right to liberty. Governments are created by the people to protect these rights, and they only have the power to govern because the people agree to let them. If a government starts violating these rights, the people have the power to change or abolish it and create a new one that will better protect their safety and freedom. For a a year, President Trump has abused his power and tried to establish total control over us. He has refused to pass laws that are necessary for the public good, and he has dissolved our elected legislatures simply because they stood up for our rights. He has kept standing armies in our towns during peacetime without our consent, making soldiers judge us in unfair courts. He has cut off our trade with the rest of the world, taxed us without our permission, and stripped us of our right to a trial by jury. We have repeatedly asked him to stop these abuses, but he has ignored us
