Why Do You Support Corruption, Self Enrichment, and the Abuse of Public Office?
To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
July 2
I am writing to ask a simple question. Why do you continue to support an administration that I believe has repeatedly placed personal interests above those of the American people?
From my perspective, taxpayers have been forced to watch public money spent on vanity projects, questionable no bid contracts, and actions that appear to benefit political allies and family members rather than serving the public interest. I believe this represents a serious abuse of the trust that voters place in elected officials.
You have chosen to stand by these actions instead of exercising the independent oversight that your office requires. Congress is supposed to serve as a check on executive power, not act as its unquestioning defender.
I also believe the President’s conduct and criminal history make your continued support deeply troubling. By continuing to defend and enable this behavior, you are sending the message that accountability no longer matters.
This letter is to let you know that I will remember your choices when I vote, and I believe many other constituents will as well. Every time you defend conduct that I view as unethical, self serving, or contrary to the rule of law, you lose the confidence of another voter.
You were elected to represent your constituents, not to protect any one individual from scrutiny or accountability. I urge you to start putting your district and the Constitution ahead of partisan loyalty.
