Remove Bill Pulte as Acting Director of National Intelligence and launch rigorous congressional oversight of his security clearance and every action he takes in that role. He is a real estate executive with zero background in intelligence, national security, or law enforcement — and he now oversees all 18 of America's intelligence agencies. That is a direct threat to national security.
This isn't just a question of qualifications. At his prior post as housing director, Pulte used his office to pursue unsubstantiated fraud allegations against Trump critics and perceived political enemies. Handing that same instinct for political weaponization to the nation's top intelligence post is dangerous. Because he was appointed in an acting capacity, he can hold this authority for up to 210 days without Senate confirmation. Congress cannot wait that out. Oversight needs to start now.
