Many members of Congress are choosing to not hold Town Halls due to many deeply unpopular decisions. This is concerning behavior by members of Congress. Avoiding town halls during recess prevents constituents from voicing their opinions and holding their representatives accountable. A fundamental part of democracy is open dialogue between elected officials and the people they represent. By largely eschewing town halls, Republicans are neglecting this vital responsibility. The issues facing our nation are complex and demand robust discussion from all perspectives. Voters deserve transparency from their lawmakers and opportunities to directly engage on key matters impacting their communities. Failure to provide such forums undermines the democratic process. I urge you to reconsider this approach and commit to hosting open town hall events during this recess period. Your constituents have legitimate concerns that warrant a public forum for respectful discourse. Representing the people requires actively listening to the people. I hope you will uphold this principle and take steps to facilitate frank discussions through accessible town halls in your district.
