Block USPS Mail Ballot Tracking Rule Before It Disenfranchises Voters

To: Rep. DelBene, Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray

From: A verified voter in Bothell, WA

June 18

Block the Trump administration's attempt to seize federal control over mail ballot delivery. USPS has filed a proposed rule that would require states to hand over voter information about mail-in and absentee ballot requests, paired with a new records tracking system — all tied to Trump's executive order directing USPS to send ballots only to voters on state-approved lists. This is a federal takeover of an election process the Constitution leaves to the states, and it needs to be stopped now. The American Postal Workers Union has called this an "unconstitutional attack on the millions of Americans who vote by mail," and the NAACP is already in court arguing it violates a 2021 settlement requiring USPS to prioritize timely election mail delivery through 2028. Simultaneously, USCIS is building a citizenship-list infrastructure set to reach states by June 30 — the other half of this scheme. Together, these moves are designed to create a federal chokehold on who gets a ballot before the midterms. Use every tool available to halt this rule — hold hearings, cut off implementation funding, and go on record opposing it. Eligible voters will be disenfranchised if this stands.
