WHY ARE YOU SILENT IN THE FACE OF CORRUPTION?

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

June 1

I am writing to ask why you continue to remain silent while this administration engages in actions that many Americans view as corrupt, unethical, and harmful to our country. From my perspective, there has been a disturbing pattern of abuses of power, political favoritism, wasteful spending, and conduct that appears to place personal and political interests above the interests of the American people. Yet many elected officials who were sent to Washington to provide oversight seem unwilling to speak out. When representatives refuse to challenge wrongdoing, constituents are left to wonder whether political loyalty has become more important than constitutional duty. Frankly, I can only surmise that those who remain silent are either unwilling to confront corruption or are benefiting from the system themselves. You were elected to represent your constituents—not to serve as a loyal defender of any president, political party, or would-be authoritarian figure. Your oath was to the Constitution and the people you represent. I want to know what specific actions you are taking to hold this administration accountable. What investigations have you supported? What oversight have you demanded? How are you protecting taxpayers and defending democratic institutions? Silence is not leadership. If you continue to look the other way while serious concerns go unanswered, voters will remember that choice. I look forward to your response.
