Reject discriminatory SB213, defend LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians' rights
To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick
From: A constituent in Aspinwall, PA
February 14, 2025
LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians are under attack from Senate Bill 213, an aggressively anti-trans bill that aims to erase and discriminate against trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming individuals across the state. This harmful legislation bans public funds from supporting gender-affirming care and education, forces single-sex spaces based solely on birth sex rather than gender identity, silences trans-affirming policies in workplaces and public spaces, and creates a statewide gender surveillance system requiring agencies to report efforts to purge inclusive language and policies. SB213 heightens stigma, increases the risk of violence, denies critical healthcare, and legally erases the identities of our trans and nonbinary community members. It does not protect women or promote fairness as claimed, but rather enforces discrimination under the guise of false narratives about safety. We cannot allow this unwarranted attack on the rights, dignity, and well-being of transgender and nonbinary Pennsylvanians. Decisive action must be taken to stop SB213 and defend the ability of all people to live authentically without fear or oppression. A clear rejection of this discriminatory bill is urgently needed to uphold freedom and justice for the LGBTQ+ community.
