Restore Healthcare Grant Funding for Vulnerable Communities

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Gooden

From: A verified voter in Rowlett, TX

April 22

Prioritize Public Health Over Political Chokeholds. The DOGE "Defend the Spend" initiative requiring manual justification for all federal healthcare grant payments has created an alarming backlog delaying funds for salaries, supplies, and essential services at health centers serving vulnerable populations. While removing fraud and waste is a valuable goal, this abrupt implementation has left thousands of grantees without guidance on restoring payments, jeopardizing continuity of care and threatening life-saving treatments and preventative programs in underserved communities. Bureaucratic obstacles should not undermine these critical public health priorities supported by taxpayer money. It is overly disruptive, and yanks spending decisions away from Congress and into a funnel of scrutiny by the president whose job is not to choke approved congressional funding. Stop this ridiculous nonsense and demand that the president allow you to do your job. You - and not Elon Musk - are the elected officials. I expect you to do your job by representing me, and by adhering to your Constitutional duties. Stop this madness!
