I throw myself at the mercy of your empathy, pleading for urgent intervention in what can only be described as an affront to human dignity. I am but an ordinary man, racked by the images of innocent lives, particularly children, in Palestine brutalized by artillery, air raids, and forces that advocate nothing but terror and sorrow. At the heart of my plea is the American support, in the form of funding and arms shipments, that aids and abets this entrenched and escalating aggression by Israel. It is high time we pause and question - what is the price of a human life? How much torment must the Palestinian people endure before the world decides 'enough is enough'? From the ashes of this human tragedy rises an unavoidable truth; that our government’s largess is playing an all too familiar role in fanning the flames of this ceaseless conflict rather than quenching them. The weapons and funding we send fails to contribute to peace, but merely serves to perpetuate an unending cycle of violence and animosity. There is no honor in silence, no virtue in inaction when we witness the atrocities committed against humanity. The cessation of funding and arming of these conflicts must be our top priority, not for any political agenda, but for the love of humanity, for the children whose laughter has turned into cries, for the families torn apart by a terror they did not invite. We must raise our voices against these crimes against humanity now, in unison, and with conviction. For if we falter, and our resolve waivers, then as a society we have failed not only ourselves but the basic tenants of human solidarity and compassion.
