Abolish ICE and Build a Humane Immigration System
To: Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly
From: A verified voter in Phoenix, AZ
August 15
Abolish ICE. Not reform it, not rebrand it — dissolve it and replace it with an agency built from the ground up around humane, accountable immigration enforcement. The agency's predecessor, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, was abolished before. We can do it again.
ICE has now fatally shot people in encounters that happened within days of each other. DNC members are openly calling for abolition, and only 39% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of immigration — down from 49% at the start of his term. The politics are moving. What's missing is elected officials willing to lead instead of waiting for a focus group to give them permission.
Real immigration reform means a system with clear legal pathways, due process, and oversight — not one where people die in enforcement encounters and the response is a policy memo. Take a position. Vote to abolish ICE and commit to building something better.
