KS Bathroom Bill needs vetoed

To: Sen. Francisco, Rep. Mosley, Gov. Kelly

From: A constituent in Lawrence, KS

February 4

I’m writing about the latest senate bill regarding trans rights in KS. Not only is this a gross misuse of state legislation, and damaging to KS residents, it’s also a waste of taxpayer money. As quoted in, https://www.kmbc.com/article/kansas-bathroom-license-bill-transgender-people-access/70193626 , this bill affects only 500 people directly in KS. However, it also will affect ANYONE in KS who doesn’t “look” exactly as people would expect. It gives people who have no business interfering in the lives of other an excuse to bully anyone who looks different than they expect. If someone has short hair and tries to go into a designated women’s restroom, they would be subjected to someone questioning their “biological sex”, regardless of their actual gender or how they were assigned at birth. Same for any men with long hair. What about women with PCOS who have facial hair? This is not something we should be focusing on. It is my sincerest hope that Governor Kelly vetoes this immediately. It is also my sincerest hope that our legislator will stop bullying a vulnerable population. Can we please focus on the things that make KS such a great state to live in? It’s notably a free state, meaning we like to live our lives as we want to live them. We need to focus on autonomy.
